Brigadier General R.J. Cooper sale Christie’s 12 December 1947 (11), bought by W. H. Simpson. In the sale catalogue, it is specified that it was exhibited at the British Institution, 1858 (no 128) and was from the Francis Baring collection.

Correspondence with Professor Ellis Waterhouse dated 12 March 1970 states that there was a picture of her sold to Lord Thanet’s executors in 1786, which may have been The Hunterian’s. Some of Lord Thanet’s possessions passed to an illegitimate son by Nelly O’Brien. By 1845 it was exhibited as in Sir Thomas Baring collection.
